In the run -up to the event, it became a lot of rumor that the Greek titles would get a remaster for modern hardware.
-
Many expected the announcement to take place during the anniversary event, although that clearly does not happen.
With rumors around a remaster of the titles from the Greek era on modern hardware, Santa Monica Studio, the team behind God of War, came out to crush all rumors about a planned announcement during the 20th birthday of this month.
In a message that is shared on social media, Santa Monica clearly stated the following:
With such a great line -up and all the anticipation that we have seen around the birthday, we want to be clear that there are no planned announcements for this event.
In other words, if you were planning to buy a ticket for the event in the hope of seeing a trailer, not. That of course does not mean that the constant rumors have no validity, but the event is primarily intended as a celebration.

How we got here
At the end of last month, the reliable industry -insider Jeff Grubb shared that is a remaster of the Greek titles for March. The franchise as a whole celebrates 20 years on March 22, the date on which Sony first released God of war on the PS2.
Those rumors backup claims from October 2024 that not only the original trilogy would be transferred to modern hardware, but that also applies to the PSP era (Ghost or Sparta and Chains of Olympus) titles, as well as the Prequel, Ascension.
In honor of the anniversary of the franchise, a gallery event is held in Nucleus, complete with art exhibitions, as well as an anniversary panel that will also contain a signing of the developers and cast. That made a clear target for speculation for a possible announcement, although it has now been made clear that it will not happen.
