No final decision on the fate of 2 Delaware County Hospitals, says Crozer Health

Chester, Pa. (WPVI) – Crozer Health says that no final decision has been made about the fate of two hospitals in Delaware County, despite indications that the company is planning to close them.

In a statement on Friday, Crozer Health said that all locations remain open and that no final decisions have been made with regard to closing facilities or the closing of activities.

However, employees, patients and the community remain uncertain.

“Everyone is in the air, uncertain about what happens,” says Rex Haye, an employee of Crozer Chester.

Prospect Medical Holdings, which owns Crozer Health, told a bankruptcy judge on Thursday that they only have enough money to keep the hospitals open until March 14.

The own owner of profit -making of the health system based in California applied for bankruptcy protection in January.

The attorney general of Pennsylvania has sued the company, referring to the mismanagement and neglect of the Crozer Health company.

Twenty million dollars from the province and the state checked by an external consultant has kept the facilities open.

On Thursday, officials called the potential closure a crisis that endangers the emergency services along the I-95-Gang. The laws joined employees and patients in a meeting.

Governor Josh Shapiro also weighed:

“We also need our healthcare institutions in the Philadelphia area to perform and do more,” said Shapiro Thursday during a non -related event at Temple University.

“Penn has to do more, main line [Health] Must do more. They will have to bear the burden of where those patients go when the prospect has actually closed Crozer, “said Shapiro.

Shelly Buck is the president of Riddle Hospital, within the Health Hoofth line system. The hospital is only five miles from Crozer Chester.

Buck says they are being prepared since the announcement of possible closures.

“We are ready and are prepared for the increased volume that would come in through our doors,” Buck said.

“We have worked very closely with our medical staff to prepare them, so that not only the spaces, but we also have the equipment, the supplies,” Buck said.

Penn Medicine has released a statement with the text: quote:

“The doors of Penn Medicine are always open to patients in need. Together with our colleagues in health care in the region, we will work to guarantee smooth transitions in healthcare for all patients who can be influenced by this potential closure.”

According to Attorney General Dave Sunday, the following action is a meeting on Sunday in Harrisburg that is ordered by the court, where all parties are called on the table to explore all options.

A hearing about the proposed closure is planned for Tuesday at 9.30 am in Dallas.
